Cabinet Done

Cabinet is now pretty much done. There are a few things left to touch up but that can be done after the backbox is done. Now on to the backbox.

One Side Done

Well it took some time buy I finally figured out how to make decent stencils. I tried a lite frisket material with a tacky back first, but it was to flimsy to use for the cabinet artwork. The firsket would stretch and tear, and would also stick to itself making it a pain to work with. I ended up getting some tracing paper, tracing out all of the artwork, then transferring it all onto some .05 mill thick plastic acetate. Cutting out the stencil from the acetate was not much fun but it worked. Next up is trying to get the stencil to lay flat on the cabinet so you do not get to much over spray. I think that so far it has turned out O.K. Now on to getting the other side done, and the bottom half of the cabinet will be complete.

Well I have finished building and installing the new coin door. I made a few mistakes while painting the door but I should be able to fix them. Now comes the real fun part, painting the rest of the cabinet and head.

New bottom & front pannel installed

I have finally finished cutting and installing the new bottom panel and coin door panel. Putting this part back together took longer than I thought it would because the old plywood at the front of the cabinet was starting to delaminate from moisture. I must say that Gorilla Glue is my friend. I used a bunch of this fine product to make the cabinet structurally sound again, and to glue everything back together. These pictures show the process so far. I still need to clean up some of the excess glue, but the cabinet is looking much better now.
It is now time to get out the wood filler and sanders to get the cabinet ready for paint. I ordered some frisket material to start making stencils, hopfully I will start painting soon.
